Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.
Now working with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set win over opponent Moutet.
It is the player's first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard court after spring of 2023.
Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was finished.
But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the concluding five points to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a decider.
Moutet rescued 4 early chances in a tight final set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he earned the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
