Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

This incident caused the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals have been arrested related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt during the incident. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
