Premier League teams seem to be bossing things in Europe as, for the second time in this season's Champions League, five sides from the English top division won in a matchday of fixtures.

The Gunners, The Reds, City, The Magpies and Spurs all won their games this matchday, with the initial quartet of those sides now sitting inside the top eight - the positions they need to be in to secure direct entry for the elimination rounds.

Only Chelsea failed to take all maximum points as they were held to a unexpected 2-2 draw by Qarabag on midweek, but they are still well positioned at the midpoint of the group stage as they sit in 12th.

Before this season the elite European competition had not witnessed five clubs from a single nation all triumph in a matchday of matches. Currently sides from the English league have managed it on two occasions.
